Uber is taking a big step towards democratising its car rental services, with a new app that lets users book a car in as little as a few minutes.
The app, called UberCar, was launched on Wednesday by Uber’s US parent company, but has already received widespread praise for its simplicity.
It’s a good move, says Nick Henshaw, head of research at iFixit, a cybersecurity firm.
“It’s an excellent app, it’s simple, it has a lot of features, and it’s one of the easiest apps to use.
Uber is just going to have to make the app more flexible.””
If they want to compete in the car rental market, then they have to innovate more.”
The company is already launching a range of car rental products in the US and is looking to expand to other markets.
However, for now, UberCar is aimed at customers in Louisville, Kentucky, where Uber is headquartered.
It was launched by Uber as an alternative to its rival Lyft and has already become a favourite among Uber drivers and passengers.
Uber has been trying to gain a foothold in the automotive sector by offering a cheaper alternative to car rental companies like Hertz and Park Place.
But it’s still unclear how the company will fare against the likes of Hertz, where its cars are often left in the parking lot, with drivers required to pay for their own insurance.
“We have to see how they scale this up,” says Mark Mahoney, an analyst with Gartner, a research firm.
Uber is also hoping to improve the quality of its drivers, who have long been accused of driving with impunity and failing to record insurance claims.
In Louisville, Uber also launched a mobile app that offers information about the drivers, including the names of their homes.
It has also made efforts to increase transparency and transparency on its car payments system, which Uber has admitted to allowing companies like car rental firms to collect payments without their consent.
“The biggest thing that Uber is going to do is bring transparency,” says Mahoney.
“If you don’t want to pay, don’t pay.
Uber has to show you how it works.”
The UberCar app is also now being used by Lyft and Park View, another car rental firm, in Louisville.
Uber says it is working with these companies to help them improve their payment systems.
In recent months, Uber has been increasing its efforts to attract car rental drivers to its platform.
The company recently launched a new “Uber Plus” service, in which drivers can pay for a car, get their driver insurance, and receive free access to its app.
Uber’s “UberX” service also enables car rentals.
Uber said that it had invested more than $2bn in the Louisville area to improve car rental availability and customer experience.
“This investment will help us create a stronger and more connected Louisville,” Uber said in a statement.
“With Uber, we believe we can offer customers a better experience, more value and better services than any other ride-sharing platform on the planet.
We look forward to sharing more details about this exciting expansion in the coming months.”
